Alaa Mazloum, Global Security
Alaa Mazloum is a PhD student at the University of Toronto (UofT) majoring in International Relations and Development Studies. She brings along almost a decade of professional work experience having work issues related to peace, security, and development. Prior to joining UofT, Mazloum was the Yemen Country Program Manager at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) operating from their Egypt Office. She also worked previously as a Program Design Manager at the Egyptian Food Bank, managing a first-of-its-kind randomized control trial conducted by non-governmental organizations on food assistance in Egypt. Mazloum also worked on preventing radicalization and extremism leading to terrorism (PRELT) at the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding, as think-do-tank affiliated with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
