Cliff Omondi, Global Security
Clifford Collins Omondi Okwany is a political scientist trained in Kenya and Norway. He is a resident at the Raad Peace Research Institute, and an advisory board member of the ICT4COP center at NMBU. His research work is based in the Horn of Africa. He is a security expert writing on Kenya’s security, international security and foreign policy, focusing on ontological security, conflict, and violence theories such as the Frontier and Spatial Theory (Territoriality). More specifically, his work focuses on policing work, counter-terrorism, counter-violent extremism, radicalization, deradicalization, community-based armed groups, and non-state armed groups. Okwany has vast experience in ethnographic research methods and transect walks in the Horn of Africa, particularly in North Eastern Kenya, along Somalia-Kenyan borders, Northern Kenya, North Eastern Uganda, Southern part of Sudan and Ethiopia.
