Dr. Ebuzer Demirci, Global Security

Ebuzer Demirci is a political analyst specializing in East African politics, with Somalia examined as a key regional case. Since 2011, his work has focused on regional security dynamics and counter-terrorism in East Africa, as well as Türkiye–Somalia relations, with particular attention to their security and political dimensions. He studied International Relations at Ankara University and earned his Master’s degree in Global Studies and International Relations from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. His thesis, Transformation of Turkish-American Relations in the Multipolar World, analyzed Türkiye’s strategic autonomy within evolving global power structures. Demirci has conducted extensive fieldwork across East Africa, including Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti, gaining in-depth insight into the region’s political and security environment. He provides consultancy to relevant institutions in Somalia, having previously focused on security sector development and currently working on global connectivity issues. Previously, he worked at Anadolu Agency’s AA Academy. He translated A. M. Baadiyow’s Making Sense of Somali History into Turkish as a single-volume publication titled Somali Tarihini Anlamlandırmak, which has been published by Africa Foundation. He is currently working on a book examining Türkiye–Somalia relations from a historical perspective to the present day.
