Paulo Raposo, National Security

Paulo Raposo is a cartographer and geographic information scientist. His research interests focus on the generalization and multiple representation of geospatial data and its illustrations, cartographic design, geometry, and GIS programming. His current projects include flow map generation, discrete global grid systems, augmented reality cartography, and surface analysis and generalization. His work emphasizes generalization algorithm development alongside cartographic design, treating the two as closely linked so that outputs are well-suited to symbolization. His projects often result in open-source code intended for both academic research and production cartography. He has also produced maps with colleagues in public health, economics, human geography, and political science contexts.
