Simon Wells, National Security

Simon Wells is a Canadian expert in resilience, emergency management and crisis leadership. In 2020 he founded the award-winning Canadian Journal of Emergency Management, the country’s first fully bilingual, open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to disaster governance. Simon is the founder and principal consultant at Subitis Inc., a resilience and crisis management firm, and has held senior roles in federal and municipal emergency management departments, including leadership positions during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 Convoy of Freedom crisis. A Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers and an accredited business continuity professional through the Disaster Recovery Institute, he holds multiple graduate degrees in business administration and human security. His professional and analytical work has been published in the Canadian Military Journal, Canadian Army Journal, Royal Canadian Air Force Journal, Canadian Naval Review, and the U.S. Army’s Army Sustainment. He is adjunct faculty in York University's disaster and emergency management program, and a frequent guest lecturer in business and social science programs.
